Reflecting on a great trip to Texas.

We've only been home a few hours and I'm having a hard time realizing I woke up in Texas this morning. I want to go back..... Believe me, the mountains were a welcome sight and it's always nice to return to your own home. Let's just say Matt and Nicole sold me! (Which is what they were trying to do anyway)

As many know, Texas is in a severe drought right now. Although the homes are landscaped with dead lawns now, I found Texas country charming.

Everyone told me to expect the humidity to be miserable. It felt more like walking outside in St. George summer temperatures after it rains. I'll admit I felt the difference on the plane while still in the sky. After my first shower there it didn't bother me so much! It was HOT, I'll give it that. On Friday we floated down the Comal River. WOW. That was super fun. Nothing to do or see, but sit in a "toob" and stare at each other for a few relaxing hours!

Matt and Nicole are amazing hosts! Their house really feels like a home. We had so much fun out and about but at the end of the day it was always so nice to go back to their home. Nicole can COOK! We had such yummy food at their house and out and about in Texas. I also have to mention the fudge. I think our favorite was Matt's pick. Tiger butter! Yum yum.

I got to meet a few of Chris' friends. Mark and Kevin are former (hopefully future) co workers. I met Shawn and Kathy Rutledge. They were all very nice and friendly.

Matt and Nicole were nice enough to run me by a Hobby Lobby for some "Texas material". While there I was telling Nicole that being in a Hobby Lobby makes me feel like home. So if we did move there, and I got home sick, I could just go shopping at Hobby Lobby to feel better.

This it a monument in the
middle of an intersection
downtown.

The grounds around the
Alamo are beautiful. We
spent more time walking
around the grounds and
other buildings then we
did the Alamo. It even
sprinkled on us while
we were there.

My handsome man!
His hair does really
well in the humidity!

I heart Nicole!!!

For some reason Matt looks
more wealthy when he's
getting money
from a wooden ATM.
Sure looks like Hudson likes Texas!

T E X A S bound

We leave for San Antonio Texas in two days! TWO DAYS! I am so freaking excited. We  are headed there for a visit/get-a-way. We'll be staying with Chris' brother Matt and his wife Nicole. We hope to be able to see his sister, Tressa and her boys as well!

I am slightly nervous to fly with little buddy, but lots of people fly with their kids. They says it's not bad if you prepare right. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???? It should be quite the adventure.

Stay tuned! We hope to get lots of fun pictures.

Minnetonka caves

We spent Saturday up the mountain waiting to get in the cave. While waiting we took a few photos at the cave opening.

The Minnetonka caves were found many years ago by a miner who was hunting.

There are 444 steps into the cave and to get out you have to take all 444 steps back. As you can imagine,  you cannot take a stroller. We had a good time but decided we won't be doing that again until the boy can walk by himself.

The caves are a constant 40 degrees. Nice and cool!

The latest family shots.

I love my kids!

I Love hand-me-downs and D.I.!

Chris and I drove to Layton today and saw my cousin Melanie and her family. While there she hands us a big bag of toys and books! Gotta love stuff like that.

After her place we went over to Chris' brother Jake's house. We hadn't been to their house before so it was fun to see their place.

We had a hankering for Krispy Kreme doughnuts, but before we indulged, we hit up the Layton D.I. We always browse through the baby boy section, the kids books, and furniture. I needed an old frame for a project and I found it. We found an old child's school chair that will go nicely with the old child's desk we have in the garage.

The best part was when I got home and started laundry. (I always wash everything from the D.I. immediately!) I was taking the tags off of a pair of brown corduroy overalls when I found another tag on them. Haha, they were brand new never worn Gymboree overalls. Woohoo! I was freaking excited!

Nice start to the baby's fall wardrobe, I'd say.

I promised pictures!

It was really a beautiful day. We did expect rain so we still brought along our trusty umbrellas. A big shout out to Brooke my sis-in-law for bringing her camera along and for taking these photos. We also had our camera but we couldn't take pics of ourselves.

We are so grateful to our families who came and shared this special day with us!

Life comes at you fast.

It's August already people. My baby boy is 7 months old now. Nautica starts back to school in 2 weeks. It feels like it hasn't even started to get hot around these parts yet.

Chris and I have been married 2 years in October. Let me just say, Chris is definitely my "Mr. Right"! I love him so much. He is the best husband, and by best husband I mean he is a fantastic cook! I'm kidding, but honestly ladies you know that's a big deal. We are at a point in our lives where we are kind of in limbo. Chris is starting back to school but we are also looking for a job for him. We are doing a great deal of looking for said job outside this state. Who knows where we'll be, come the end of the year.

Last weekend Chris and I took our little family to the temple. That's right,  it's forever now! What a wonderful experience. It was nice to share our special moment with some of our family members. (I'll post pictures soon)

We'll be seeing much of my family again here soon. We have a chance to go the Bear Lake with my brother's girlfriend. Her family owns a cabin there and has offered to let our family utilize it for a weekend. It sounds like many of my siblings will be there. We are excited for the time to relax.
